Located west of the Washington State, around 96 miles south of Canada is the city of Seattle. This city is located near the coast and a major seaport in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States with a metropolitan area population of about 3,344,800. It was first known as "New York-Alki" by the early occupants where "Alki" means "by and by". However, in 1853, its name was changed to "Seattle" which was named after Chief Sealth, of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. In the early 1980s, the city got the nickname "Emerald City" as a product of a competition to the fresh evergreen forests in the region. Seattle is noted for heavy coffee consumption where some of the well known coffee companies today were founded like Seattle's Best Coffee, Starbucks and Tully's.
